The Cost-Benefits of Public Child Care
²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ economics professor Beth Dhuey and Atkinson Senior Policy Fellows Kerry McCuaig and Dr. Emis Akbari. Ontario is requiring regions to justify their directly operated childcare facilities. Divesting public programs has eliminated good jobs for education, removed a standard for community programs, and reduced access to vulnerable users, particularly children with disabilities and infants. Research documents that the value of public childcare extends beyond the dollars spent.
