²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus Clive Beck
It is with great sadness that ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ announces the passing of Professor Emeritus Clive Mackie Beck. Always a warm and positive force, Dr. Beck has been a dear friend and a cherished member of our community since joining ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ in 1967. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Friday, June 30.
Born in 1939 in Katanning Western Australia on a sheep farm, Dr. Beck was deeply committed to education in all its forms throughout his life. In his career, he conducted extensive research on teaching and teacher education, and his book Better Schools was translated into Chinese and Japanese. As a member of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Dr. Beck was a source of inspiration to the hundreds of graduate students as well as pre-service and in-service teachers that he taught. Even in 2023, he was still teaching courses at ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½.
We send our deepest condolences to his beloved wife Professor Emerita Clare Kosnik, his sons Paul and Nicholas, and his family and friends. Dr. Beck will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue in Toronto from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
