Podcasting as Scholarship
The CMCE Public Scholarship Salon fosters collaboration between scholars, artists, and activists, exploring diverse media practices in research and communication. During 2024-25, the CMCE Salon will feature talks and workshops on podcasts, zines, comics, digital storytelling, and social media as tools for scholarly engagement.
Workshop focus:
- History of podcasting and its capacity to break down barriers in research storytelling
- Styles and approaches in academic podcasting
- Tips on getting started, equipment, technique, and writing for audio

Gordon Katic
Gordon Katic (he/him) is an award-winning radio/podcast producer and director of Cited Media, a platform for critical storytelling about research and academia. His work includes popular podcasts like Cited, CRACKDOWN, and Darts & Letters, featured in outlets such as 99% Invisible, CBC, and Jacobin. He is a PhD student in Social Justice Education and holds a Master of Journalism from the University of British Columbia.
