What are some words of wisdom/encouragement you would give to a new or incoming student in your program?
Relationship power! I would encourage everyone to attend to their relational needs while on the grad school journey. I’m fortunate to have been bolstered and energized by people who I met at ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ and held tight by my circle of care outside of ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½. It would have been a much harder trek without them. You may find it valuable to connect with people who are a few laps ahead on the obstacle course for support and cheer leading. If you’re reading this would like to chat, please reach out!
What next?
I’ll be working as a psychologist in supervised practice at Kinark Child and Family Services and Bright Lights Psychology Clinic.
Why ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½?
At ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½, we get the opportunity to blur the lines between the disciplines of psychology and education. I found it particularly valuable to be in a learning community with teacher candidates and trained educators, developmental psychologists, and clinicians specializing in adult populations alongside my SCCP peers. The interdisciplinary opportunities enriched my clinical, research, and teaching practices. ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ has consistently attracted brave, radical, and kind learners and I’ve been grateful to learn alongside them inside and outside of the classroom.
